Rault Biscuit Factory – Traditional Biscuits – Mahebourg, Mauritius.
Rault Biscuit Factory is located in the South-East of Mauritius at Mahébourg. The Seneque family produces unique manioc (cassava) biscuits since 1870. The factory is run by the 4th generation of this family.
The factory is open to visitors who will have the privilege to see the confection of this special biscuits. The making and baking is still very traditional and that’s the beauty of it, but they have kept developing new (natural) flavours and variants.

The manioc biscuits are sold solely in Mauritius in almost all the shops but the best way to discover these delicacies is by a visit to the factory and taste them on the spot with a nice e cup of tea or coffee.
Anybody can visit the factory during working hours and ask for a tasting session. The setting takes you in another century and the 500m track to get there through the village of "Ville Noire" is already a dive into the heart of Mauritian reality. The very welcoming family will show and explain their unique hydraulic pump which works exclusively on water pressure. One can also taste the fresh water from the well that supplies drinking water to the estate since ages.
